Oh, October!

Autumn, always I have loved this season. Sweaters, chestnuts,
pumpkins, soups, stews and bread! Walking, and the scents of wood burning stoves and fireplaces perfume the air.

I hooked this rug in recycled wool.

HATS

The Fedora & the Floppy hats are in style again this Autumn/Winter.
One day till October arrives, have you pulled out your hat yet?
A black and a camel is all I will need.
I got mine big enough to allow room to wear hair down or tuck it all up into the hat.
For those of you requesting I mention "fashion trends" here is the first,
and I will post monthly.
Wear these hats with everything.
(Not your formals ladies)

September comes to a close..

The wind blew and the sunshine poured on everything at the fair!
It was a gorgeous warm day, and the photographer
yelling "get your hair out of your face" easier said than done!
As I try to hold on to my jacket, camera and Sconset Jessie dog on the leash!

NO LABEL

I will not define my diet/lifestyle by a label, NO!
Eating as healthy as I can, dabble in Raw, Vegan, etc.
I make most of my own juices and peanut butter, and
getting into fermentation.
So, no I can't say I am this or that, who cares?
And I like cake!

Sunflowers = Happy!

Sunflowers make you happy, don't they? How can you look at one and not smile? Coming to an end,
no more floppy heads out in the fields bopping around in the slightest of breeze!
I love a vase of them on the kitchen counter...

Welcome Autumn!

Cooler days, days are shorter, evenings we pile on more blankets!

Goodbye Summertime.

We must say goodbye to the Summer of 2016.

It was a wonderful, crazy busy one for me.
Enjoyed the moments of each and everyday.
I tend to adore all the seasons, but this summer was the busiest ever.
My new Pink bike got a lot of use, and put smiles on many faces (the color).
Veggies galore between growing and the CSA basket from the farm,
constantly thinking of new ways to use them all!
Now we close the windows on humidity and drenching heat,
and open the drapes as we enjoy watching the leaves fall.
Memories...

Bye last day of Summer..

Well it's official-we must say bye.
Summertime sea shells and sand, and ocean breeze.
Lobster rolls & lobster rolls!
The boating events and fashion shows, all the fundraiser events
and dinner gatherings. Dog walks and berry picking, cookouts and
talks, summer rain, and sunsets, and the divine sail on Wild Horses.
Thank goodness for memories, till we meet again, BYE SUMMERTIME!

Blueberry Muffins

Blueberry Muffins and more to come from summer's harvest!

Blueberries are so good for us, and I have a berry stash in freezer!

Herb Pot

My Herb Pot I keep going year round. I love having them grow right outside the kitchen door. I can just step out and tear off herbs I need for a particular meal! Have you seen the cost of fresh herbs at the market? Grow your own.

The pot I use for the herbs traditionally is
a "Strawberry Pot" and it works well.

Books

Books, I love and read constantly. I have an eclectic mix of reads. Many of you having seen my old BLOG-myislandkitchen, have contacted me missing books & fashion articles. Still into both, but not much time to write of them. May I say monthly I will feature each! Of late here are my main two books. YES, you guessed cookbooks!

Simplify this LIFE!

I am constantly seeking out ways to simplify my world.
A basket now will sit at the front door awaiting items needed to place in the car.
Nothing forgotten!

Summer Flowers

I will so miss the lovely summer growth. The flowers in every color, and oh the scents! For now
I work on saving many by drying, until Summertime and I meet again...

BYE Summer

In three days we welcome Autumn! Amazing summer flew off!

Beach-plum jam

Here we are entering into a new season with plenty to do in the kitchen. Cooler days with foraging and baking and soups. I am starting my Monday off with coffee and corn muffin with beach-plum jam!

Honey

I simply love honey. Here are my finds at the Island Fair, three bottles of various honey island harvested. The bee keepers work hard for their bottled gems. Honey, I use in tea and recipes, and on face and to stop a cough.

Island Fair-OH, September!

A stunning day for a FAIR! People and animals and food and games and song!
